Frama labels were first introduced on trial on 22 February, 1984, at it's peak there were some 200 Sterner stamp vending machines in use within Australia and at a number of International stamp expo's, a decline in use and the increase in costs of maintenance caused the decision to be made to withdraw all machines from use.
On 10 January, 2003 all Sterner Booket Vending Machines were withdrawn from use at close of business, (a special booklet cover was produced using the Arts Councils stamps (released in September, 1996 & reprinted in 2001) on a general purpose cover & postmarked Corio Vic. 3214.   Then on 12 January, all previous releases of Frama Labels were also withdrawn from sale, again at close of business, in anticipation of the release of the Farewell Frama Labels (below) on 13 January, then on 30 June, 2003 all Frama Label machines were also withdrawn from service, along with all but one Frama product (see 30 June for details).
