Royal Visit

This issue commemorates the visit to Australia by Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, the 5c stamps design is a sideface head & shoulders view of both the Queen & the Duke; the 30c stamps design is of the Australian Flag with the Royal Silhouette of the Queen.

Captain Cook Bicentenary
Designers: A specially commissioned team; Tom Keneally, Arthur Leydin, Robert Ingpen & J. R. Smith - Printer: NPB
This issue was released to commemorate the discovery of the East Coast of Australia in 1770 by Lieutenant James Cook, although listed as Captain, he did not become Captain until a number of years later, the listing comprises a Se-tenant Strip of 5 x 5c stamps, a 30c Panorama & a Miniature Sheet. The Australian National Philatelic Exhibition was held in Sydney in April, 1970, the ANPEX 70 & 50,000 miniature sheets were overprinted "Souvenir Sheet / Australian National / Philatelic Exhibition" (on the left side) & "ANPEX 1970 / Sydney / 27 April-1 May" on the right side of the 30c stamp, they were also numbered 1 to 50,000.

This issue was released in two issues containing seven parts;
two parts in issue one & five parts in issue two, although issue two was only
released in coil format the two releases compliment & complete each other. Issue 1, Part 1, July, 1968; Issue 2, Part
1, April, 1970 (below); Issue 2, Part 2, September, 1970 (three listings down); Issue 1, Part 2, May, 1971; Issue 2, Part 3, October, 1971; Issue 2, Part 4, November, 1973 & Issue 2,
Part 5, January, 1975. These flowers are also the State Floral
Emblems of Australia (State or National) as listed after each description. There was also an Australian Native
Flower release during the years, 1959, 1960 & 1964, but in pounds,
shillings & pence values. The Sturt's Desert Rose is the State Floral Emblem of the Northern Territory & the Golden Wattle is regarded as the Australian National Floral Emblem, both stamps were issued at the ANPEX 70 Expo in Sydney on 27 April.

This issue was released to highlight the importance of National Development, the 7c is the Snowy Mountains Scheme; the 8c is the Ord River Scheme; the 9c is Bauxite to Aluminium & the 10c is Oil & Natural Gas, a second issue was released in June, 1973.

XVIII International Dairy Conference

This stamp design features a dairy herd of Australian Illawarra Shorthorns, the only breed of dairy cattle developed in Australia, the left panel shows a laboratory assistant (Gwenda Holloway) conducting scientific analysis of dairy products.

50th Anniversary of Qantas

This release of two stamps was issued to commemorate 50 years of operation by Australia's National Airline, the 6c, is of a Boeing 707 with an Avro 504K in the background; the 30c, is of a Sunbeam Dyak Aircraft with a Boeing 707 landing in the background, Qantas' official birthday is 16 November, 1920, when the company was registered as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd., although the actual beginnings were much earlier, dating back to connections with the England-Australia air race won by Ross & Keith Smith, Lieutenants Hudson Fysh D.F.C and Paul McGinness D.F.C., D.C.M. served in No. 1 Squadron during the war (along with Ross Smith) after a chance meeting with Fergus McMaster, QANTAS was formed, (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd.), with McMaster becoming the first chairman and one of the first directors was Alexander Kennedy. Famous Australians
Issue 2

This was the second issue of Famous Australians, the stamps were again only released in booklet form, these four designs are (in order) Adam Lindsay Gordon, (1833-1870) Poet, designed by Artist's of the NPB; Reginald Charles Duigan (1889-1966) & John Robertson Duigan (1882-1951) Aviators, designed by Artist's of the NPB; Edward John Eyre (1815-1901) Explorer, designed by T. Adams; Lachlan Macquarie (1762-1824) Governor of New South Wales 1810-1821, designed by A. Cook. The stamps were printed in Maroon, (Gordon); Blue, (Duigan Brothers); Red, (Eyre); Black, (Macquarie), on paper that was previously lithographed in Pale Pastel Colours, there were three booklets released, 2 x 60c Gordon & Eyre in one & the Duigan's & Macquarie in the other, there was also a $1.20 booklet containing all four, there are five issues in this series of Famous Australians the issues are: Issue 1, November, 1968; Issue 2, November, 1970 (below); Issue 3, May. 1973; Issue 4, August, 1975; Issue 5, November, 1976.
