This
release incorporates two designs, both 60 cent in value, Roses along with Hearts and Flowers, released in time to be sent for Valentine's Day on the 14th February, giving red roses supposedly dates from the 18th century, when King Louis XVI gave red roses to Marie Antoinette, as a symbol of his love; during the 19th century ribbon, paper lace and cut-outs of flowers, doves and cupids came into use, the two designs highlight both these practices.

This
release represents four native Australian horticultural industries; eucalyptus oil, honey, macadamia nuts and tea tree oil. All four are cultivated for use domestically and in the export market. The eucalyptus oil industry began in 1852 in Victoria, and is referred to as the first truly Australian industry, accounting for some 10% of the world market. The honey industry exports approximately fifty percent of it's product, with bees declining worldwide, due to the over use of pesticides and herbicides, Australian honey is sought after in the world market. Australian macadamia nuts are a huge industry with over 75% being exported, New South Wales produces around 60%, while Queensland produces about 40%, with a small percentage coming form Tasmania. Tea tree oil naturally supplies a number of health benefits, it is the next most successful industry after macadamia nuts.

Part 1, Lick & Stick
Stamp / Product Design: John White A.P.D.S. - Printer: McKellar Renown
This
release highlights the importance of our Naval forces, from 1788 until 1859, Australia was protected by contingent of the Royal Navy, which was based in Sydney. In 1859 after Australia was established as a separate British Naval Station until 1913 a squadron of the Royal Navy was maintained in Australian waters, this squadron was maintained entirely by the Australian Commonwealth. After discussions in 1909 an Australian Fleet of a battle cruiser, three second class cruisers, sis destroyers, three submarines and a number of auxiliary craft was established, the first of these the HMA Yarra and Parramatta reached Australian waters in November, 1910. On 10 July 1911, His Majesty King George V granted the title 'Royal Australian Navy' to the Commonwealth Naval Forces here in Australia, although it was not until 4 October 1913 that the Australian Fleet entered Sydney Harbour, control of the units then passed to the Commonwealth Naval Board. These two stamps show the historic HMAS Australia our first flagship (launched in 1911) and the HMAS Sydney a guided missile frigate, they were released as a Se-tenant pair.

This issue highlights a number of 'cute' Australian baby animals, they may seem nice, but I can assure you they are anything but safe, I still have scars from an encounter with an upset Koala when I was a child in the Aussie bush, no animal is 100% safe, there are five images in this issue, used on seven stamps, five in this part, and two in the next, five stamp and coin sets were also to be issued over a period of six months. The images are the 60c Bilby (Macrotis lagotis); the $1.60 Dingo (Canis lupus dingo); the $1.65 Kangaroo (Macropus rufus); the $2.35 Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) and the $4.70 Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps)

In 2010 supported by Australia Post the Australian Day Council of N.S.W. encouraged Australians to explore what it was to be 'Living Australian.' The response saw 3,350 images submitted with the theme 'who we are' in categories of Community, Pride, Family and Mates. The finalists came down to five entries, with Ann Clarke of South Australia winning with "Best Friends"; the other four entries were; "Embrace Friendship" by Jackie Hewett of N.S.W.; "Cricket at the GABBA" by Katelyn Wall of Queensland; "Little Man's Business" by Suzanne Wilson of New South Wales; and 'This is so Relaxing!" by Amanda Morrison of the A.C.T.; all five are featured on these stamps.

Sheetlet of 10
Stamp Design: Creative Ethos - Product Design: John White, A.P.D.S. - Printer: McKellar Renown
This release is Part 2 of four to be released, Part 1 was released in May, 2010, part 3 will be released in 2012 and part 4 in 2013, this issue leans toward we Aussie's finding our own identity, although we have a solid British foundation, we have emerged with our own national identity, which is expressed in our acceptance in the images of flora and fauna we use to identify ourselves worldwide. The stamps both $2 in value are again larger than the norm, the first featuring the Kangaroo and the Lyrebird, these two iconic animals first featured on the 1888 Centenary of New South Wales, which was the first Commemorative issue to be released worldwide. The Kangaroo, along with the Flannel Flower adorned the 1/- stamp, while the Lyrebird, along with Waratahs and Honeysuckle adorned the 8d; the Kangaroo was also used by the South Australian colony on it's 2½d stamp issued in 1894, the second stamp features the Black Swan and the Southern Cross; the Black Swan stands as an image identifying with Western Australia, and not just in philatelic circles, although the Black Swan was used in this colonies stamps from 1854 until 1902, the Southern Cross has a long association with Australia, again not just in philatelic materials, it was featured in the Western Australian issue, six Victorian stamps, four New South Wales designs including stamp duty and a great many charity designs. This part of the issue was released as a Sheetlet of 10 in checkerboard design.
