Centenary of Exploration of Murray River
Without Watermark
Designer: Ronald A. Harrison - Engraver: Frank D. Manley - Printer: John Ash
This release commemorates the 100th anniversary of Captain Charles Sturt's voyage of discovery along the lower Murray River, the design shows a portrait of Captain Sturt, taken from a painting that hangs in the Adelaide Art Gallery by artist J. H. Crossland and a large Aboriginal shield, a smaller shield (called a coolamon) two spear heads and the tail feathers of a lyre bird. (both the OS appear to be imperforate, but the scan supplier's email is bouncing so I am unable to confirm anything)
