The Queen’s 80th Birthday
Designer: Sally Piskuric, Australia Post Design Studio - Printer: SEP Sprint
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, passes a milestone this year, she has outlived every monarch with the exception of Queen Victoria & King George III, both who lived over 81 years of age, as her health is extremely good, I am expecting her to be with us for many years to come, this year also sees the 50th anniversary of the hanging of the Pietro Annigoni portrait of Her Majesty (used in the 50c stamp below), wearing the regalia of the Order of the Garter, which is regarded as one of the finest portraits of the young Queen, the $2.45 stamp features a photographic portrait by Cecil Beaton (1904-1980), also featuring the Order of the Garter.  The Oder of the Garter is the oldest surviving order of chivalry in the world, which was instituted by Edward III in 1348.   A Miniature Sheet with both stamps was also released, along with a $10.95 Prestige Booklet.
