This issue are the literal FreightLink2004 of the counter printed range,
the Ghan ran from Adelaide to Darwin between 15 & 17 January 2004.
This issues designs are basically the same as Series 6,
Part
2, May 1994, but the stamps are longer with any value from 45c to $100 available
&
the identifying post office/Exhibition printed on the stamp.
There have been a number of Counter Printed stamps in this
design, starting at Series 7; Series 7, parts 1 through 7, issued during 1994; Series 8, parts 1 through 6, issued during 1995; Series 9, part 1, issued June,
1996; Series 10, parts 1 through 6, issued during 1997; Series 11, parts 1
through 4, issued during 1998; Series 12, parts 1 through 7, issued during
1999; Series 13, parts 1 & 2, issued during 2000; Series 14, parts 1
through 4, issued during 2001; Series 15, parts 1 through 3, issued during
2002; Series 16, parts 1 through 5, issued during 2003; Series 17, parts 1
through 7, issued during 2004; Series 18, parts 1 through 3, issued during
2005; Series 19, parts 1 & 2, issued during 2006; Series 20, during 2007, I
am not aware of any at present; Series 21, during 2008, I am not aware of any
at present; Series 22, parts 1 & 2, during 2009; Series 23, parts 1 through
5, issued during 2010; Series 24, during 2011, I am not aware of any at
present; Series 25, part 1, March 2012.
Series 7 onward are the Counter Printed range, as although

issue of two stamps (both 50c) are of our opera legend Dame Joan
Sutherland, the first stamp is from a photograph by Branco Gaica taken
during Dame Joan's role as Lucia in Lucia Di Lammermoor with the Australian
Opera in 1980, the second stamp is a portrait of Dame Joan, (supplied
courtesy of Opera Australia) the photograph was by Patrick Jones. The Sheetlet of 10 was also overprinted on the 30 April 2005 for the Sutherland
Shire Philatelic Society stamp show.

This
issue commemorates the settlement of Hobart Town in Tasmania (although
when settled it was called Van Diemen's Land), there are four stamps in
the issue (2 x 50c & 2 x $1); the two 50c are, Cheshunt House, this
homestead is situated near Deloraine in the North West of Tasmania,
(photography by C. Baker, reproduced courtesy of the Australian Heritage
Collection & Paul Bowman), (the second) Shell Necklace
(Phasianotrochus belluulus), this necklace is used to symbolise
north-east Tasmania, it reflects the continuity of the Aboriginal
community & culture (from the Queen Victoria Museum & Art
Gallery, Launceston, photography by John Leeming); the $1 stamps, Mount
Wellington & Hobart Town from Kangaroo Point, this image is from a
painting by John Glover (reproduced courtesy of the Tasmanian Museum
& Art Gallery & the National Gallery of Australia; (the second)
Mountains upon mountains - South-West Tasmania, this Olegas Truchanas

This
issue of five 50c stamps, list a number of landmark bridges from around
Australia, Ross Bridge, Tasmania, spans the Macquarie River, it was
completed in 1836; the Lockyer Bridge, Queensland, located between
Helidon & Murphy's Creek, it was built in 1911; Sydney Harbour
Bridge, Australia's most well known bridge, the arch was built
progressively from each shore and joined on the night of 19 August 1930;
Birkenhead Bridge, Port Adelaide, South Australia, completed in 1940,
this bridge spans the upper reaches of the Port River; Bolte Bridge,
Melbourne, Victoria, this bridge spans the Yarra River in the City of
Melbourne.

Eureka Stockade was a consequence of many years of dissatisfaction on
the Victorian Goldfields and a desire for responsible government, the
50c stamp is a representation of the Eureka Flag, at that time it was
called the Flag of the Southern Cross; the $2.45 stamp shows an image of
Peter Lalor, the man who led the diggers at the stockade, the miniature
sheet shows both stamps plus the diggers oath sworn on the day and a
digger's licence on the bottom left..

commemorative issue is about about the Olympic & Paralympic Games
to be held in Athens, Greece, the Olympics in August & the
Paralympics in September, 2004, the set of stamps celebrate
International competition, the modern Olympic Games started in Athens in
1896, when thirteen countries competed in nine sports, while in 2004 a
total of 201 countries competed in 28 different sports and thirty seven
disciplines. The Paralympics began in 1960, when twenty three countries
sent athletes to complete in the first set of games for disabled
athletes in a total of eight sports, held in Rome. There are three

issue is the 150th Anniversary of Australian Railways, the first Steam
propelled train on a railway, ran between Melbourne & Sandridge
(Flinders Street, Port Melbourne) & officially opened on 12
September 1854, further railways followed in Victoria, New South Wales
& South Australia, within 25 years, all colonies had some form of
railway; New South Wales first railway, opened in 1855, ran from Sydney
to Parramatta; Queensland's first railway a section of the Ipswich to
Toowoomba line open in 1865 and was the world's first narrow gauge
mountain railway; the 1890's Gold Rush in Western Australia produced a
number of rail lines including the Eastern Goldfields Railway in 1896, a
prestige booklet was also released.
